“Industrial prototyping and high-tech thermoplastic molds”
Founded in 1991, it operates in the field of industrial prototyping for automotive, lighting, home automation, medical, aerospace and imaging. Specifically, it is involved in the feasibility study and construction of high-tech steel and aluminum thermoplastic molds. It also manufactures innovative optical inserts of nanometer precision machined by SPDT (Single Point Diamond Turning) technology for various types of lenses for LASER, LED, CIPLED, NANO-LED applications.
It manufactures optics directly on hardened steel using ultrasonic technology and by high fine micro milling, as well as on aluminum, brass and steel-nickel inserts.
It specializes in prototyping optical lenses made directly on PC and PMMA sheets.
The Laboratorio BS offers a complete service to the Client, from the supply of the prototype obtained directly from PMMA or PC sheet, to the design, construction of the mold and molding of the pre-series. The target market is in the highest technological “niches” of the above-mentioned sectors; in particular, for the medical sector, the BS Laboratory has performed the molds for microlenses to be applied to innovative endoscopic video capsules.
To optimize the service aimed at the Customer, the company has established and implements a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2015.
THE COMPANY
We specialize in the production of innovative optical inserts for various types of lenses, including collimating lenses designed for sunlight concentration.
The optical surfaces of our inserts are crafted with nanometer-level shape tolerances and low surface roughness (Ra). This precision enables the BS Laboratory to create surfaces with exceptional geometric accuracy and achieve a machine-polished mirror finish.
We utilize Diamond Turning technology in our optical manufacturing processes, enabling us to produce the following lens types:
- SPHERICAL, ASPHERICAL, DIFFRACTIVE, FRESNEL, TORIC, ATORIC (via turning)
- FREEFORM, PRISM ARRAYS, LIGHT GUIDES (via linear machining)
- LENS ARRAYS, FREEFORMS, MICRO-INCISIONS, MICRO-BUMPS, and MICRO-OPTICS (via micro-milling machining)
Laboratorio BS
In addition to mold making and optical inserts, we provide customers with molded parts. Our in-house facilities include two Baby-Plast presses and one BOY 25E press, ideal for molding lenses used in the lighting, home automation, and medical sectors. For the automotive sector and other industries, we collaborate with external partners who leverage the most advanced technologies in the field (such as in-mold compression and Vario-Therm). This enables us to produce high-definition optical lenses, ensuring that even in this critical final stage, the designed optical geometry is replicated with precision.
